Deni's Famous Greasy Tacos for Dad

This is the part where Deni is supposed to insert her recipe for tacos that Dad raved over. No one could make tacos like Deni, and Lord knows Darin tried and got tired of not measuring up.

As far as I can tell, since Deni didn't share her recipe, I think it had something to do with the high grease content that turned him on so much.

Deni's Famous Tacos

1 lb low grade hamburger, browned (undrained?)
1 Envelope Taco seasoning
1 cup water
1 package pre-formed corn taco shells
Cheddar Cheese, grated

COME AND GET IT!

P.S. - I can't recall if there were other toppings? What was the real recipe?

Funny that you mention your tacos not measuring up to Deni's...when I read about how Dad gave you rave reviews for the gizzards I was thinking yeah but he gave rave reviews for everything. But now that you mention it I think I had to hear about Deni's Tacos too. Best ever...blah, blah, blah... I gave it my best effort too though.

Oh but other than that, a while back I was thinking that it's surprising that I'm not a more enthusiastic cook considering that Mom and Dad were always so stinking excited about whatever I made, no matter how awful.

I could hand Mom a plate full of burnt cookies and she would act as deliriously happy as if I'd just handed her the prize-winning entry to the Pillsbury Bake-off Contest. I'd be there groveling...umm, yeah I think I overcooked them a little...and Dad would be in the background throwing out the "Never look a gift-horse in the mouth" line.

You're right! I didn't have any trouble getting "deliriously happy" even over burnt cookies. You "girls" cooked, I was the seamstress. I would rather make a formal than bake a pie. . .and the photograph albums seem to prove that. I have lots of pictures of the formals that I made but somewhere there is a picture of me with a pie that I actually made. I think Chuck Pelton dared me to make a Macadamia Nut Pie and I proved that I could.
